I keep getting the same error pretty early on in the process while trying to reinstall Ruby:

checking build system type… x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking host system type… x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking target system type… x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking for gcc… no
checking for cc… no
checking for cl.exe… no
configure: error: in `/opt/ruby’:
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

I am running a DV4.0 and would appreciate any assistance.

Apparently in Plesk 10 you need to run “/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/httpdmng –reconfigure-all” instead of ” /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/websrvmng -a”.

Hi,

i am struggling with Passenger on my (dv)4 env.
When i start the server (webrick) from console, everything is fine, but when i want to use passenger with rails, it says there is an “uninitialized constant Rails” … which somehow means rails can’t be found?

I use RVM with two different ruby versions, two sets of gems and passenger etc, because my app wants to have ruby 1.8.7 but i have installed a 1.9.2 in the system.

First passenger said something about permission, which i set (i think correctly), now it just says “uninitialized constant Rails” which is weird.

Any ideas? Thx!

Still haven’t figured it out. Probably jacked everything up somewhere. Gonna order DV 4 and start from scratch.

I have sorted it out as well. I had a problem installing the latest version of SQlite and some other gems.

Same problem.
I ran into a problem compiling apache2 passenger module. It was trying to execute in the /tmp directory which is not executable. I found this in the media temple site:
> mkdir ~/tmptmp
> mount –bind ~/tmp /tmp

run the module again
> passenger-install-apache2-module

It should install. now fix the /tmp directory
> umount /tmp

I have the same problem as you Levi, can’t get the server to accept the location of the app. I ordered DV v4 just to start running RoR apps. If I can’t get it to work over the next couple of days I will probably leave (mt) for Heroku instead.

David, were you able to get your app running? I have everything installed but can’t seem to get Passenger to recognize my gems. It’s weird because everything works when I run “passenger start” and go to :3000.

Example error:
Could not find activesupport-3.0.3 in any of the sources (Bundler::GemNotFound)

Same setup as you:

– Apache 2
– ruby 1.9.2p0
– Rails 3.0.3
– Passenger-3.0.2

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Been working on this for a few days now..
